There is always a point of time where you have to start something. Hence, to begin, begin. Every person that is doing something made the choice at one point to simply begin doing it. It could have been a conscious choice or a coincidence to start. Regardless, the point is that you have to start somewhere with everything in life that you want to accomplish.
Often it’s a little action that is required to get the ball rolling. Don’t overwhelm yourself in believing that you have to roll up your leaves and get totally immersed in a situation, idea or event. Maybe you do and maybe you don’t. That part will be presented to you. For example, if you want a relationship, make sure you are open and available. As the opportunity comes up to meet others, which it will if you are genuinely open to it, start to get to know people whom you are interested in on a romantic level by spending time with them. If you want to become a doctor, looking into requirements and medical schools could be a place to start. If you want to live somewhere different, looking into opportunities and places to live within the city you desire could be an initial step. My point here is that you need to make some sort of move to start on a path. If you do your part, which requires you to take some action, opportunities, people and circumstances will come into your life to help your direction flow.
It’s absolutely common to have fear around starting something new. It can be really intimidating. You can feel overwhelmed and insecure, which can lead you to doubt your ability to accomplish what you want. Guess what? Everyone that has accomplished anything has been insecure, doubtful and unsure of the final result. It’s just the way of life and it’s the normal feelings that come up no matter who you are or what you are going for when you first start something. Take a moment to reflect on something that you do now, without even thinking, that was once a challenge. I don’t care if you have to go back to how to tie a shoe, ride a bike, drive a car, swim, etc. At one point you had to learn to do all of these things AND I’m guessing that it was uncomfortable and intimidating to begin. New challenges and skills bring up our fears. So find comfort in the fact that it’s normal to feel all these feelings. It’s definitely not comfortable, but it’s common. Feel the fear and do it anyway.
Start somewhere today. Begin. Take one action and doors will begin to open. It's a given.
