Honing your confidence is one of the most important things you can do. Confidence is a foundation piece. If your confidence is lacking, then everything about you and around you will be effected. It’s a staple of who you are. It’s a big huge deal to make sure that you take care of what you believe about yourself and what you’re capable of.
Sure, we have all had times in our lives when our confidence is clearly down or are currently struggling with our confidence. When i say confidence, I’m speaking to our ability to think and believe that we are totally deserving and capable of having and doing what we want. When your confidence level is low, you absolutely miss out on opportunities and experiences because you are blocked from believing that you can succeed. Whether its a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual block, you are blocked.
Even when things don’t work out, confidence is what gives you the courage to try again. Like you’ve heard relentlessly, people that are living big rarely hit the home run on their first attempt. Most likely, they got shot down, but what they did, which is different then the rest, is that they picked them self up and tried again. Having enough self belief and courage to “look stupid” after you have a failed attempt under your belt is what a courageous and confident person does. Confident people remain persistent in order to pursue their dreams and make what they want happen.
We can totally get screwed up with our image of what confidence looks like. We make it mean certain things....”someone who is confident looks like (fill in the blank), makes “X” amount of money, lives in “X” type of house, etc” blah, blah, blah. It’s a huge block that influences what we think we are capable of.
I read something the other day that really spoke to me. It’s easy to put certain people on a pedestal. People who are doing what they want, making good money, are happy, have a great relationship; whatever the image looks like for you fill it in here. I’m talking about people who appear to be living the dream.
Here's the deal: They are no better than you; you are no better than them. Everyone is 100% equal. There is no hierarchy within the human race besides the one we create in our own heads. People are people.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely will be the first one to admire someone who is doing really cool things and making a positive impact, although it’s important to acknowledge and believe that you could do it too. They are not better than you for making different choices with their time, unique gifts and life.
So, how do you become more confident? Well, here are some questions: What makes you feel alive? What makes you feel accomplished? What do you do that you are proud of? Do more of all those things.
One day at a time, little by little, all these actions add up and result in a more confident you. I know that’s a real quick rundown on how to gain confidence, which makes it sound easier said then done. The reality is that it’s 100% possible to have what you want. Building your confidence level is a huge factor in living a life that is grand. Don’t doubt what you’re capable of and keep going after what you want.
