I’m a firm believer that whatever you put your energy into and do consistently molds your reality. In other words, your personal patterns and habits color what your life looks and feels like. It attracts circumstances and people to you because what you spend your time doing links you with the world and the people in it.
It can be really helpful to look at your life: your relationships, your self image, your whole reality and see if there is any sort of pattern, habit or way of thinking that you are doing that is holding you back.
How can you even begin to find this pattern, right?
Let me help:
Spend some time identifying where your words and actions DO NOT match in your life. For example, it’s like the partner who tells their significant other that they love them and are committed to them, yet is unfaithful. Those actions and words are not matching up, which will create havoc in their intimate relationship. (Again, just a heads up, whenever your words and actions do not match, think, “red flag.”)
Can you think of something that you are doing that goes against what you want for your life? For example, are you trying to be your most healthy self, yet can’t stop smoking? Are you working toward getting a degree, yet are slacking in all your classes? We all have our “stuff,” or weak little spots within that we can strengthen with awareness. We all have those little or large parts of ourselves that we can tend to in order to improve our reality. If we didn’t, what would be the point of living, working to grow and becoming our best? Nobody is perfect. We are not supposed to be. We are here to grow and learn. When we challenge ourselves and get beyond our personal blocks we grow confidence and character. Some of the most interesting people that I have come across have had to get through challenges that were not fun and glamorous to go through. Although, it did make them better if they worked through it to BE better.
Today I’m giving you a nudge to look at your habits and patterns. Acknowledge and keep doing the ones that are working for you. If you can identify habits that are not working, that's a huge step that can really help you. Simply becoming aware of the things that you are consistently doing that are not working can begin the process of change. Hang out with the habits and patterns that are not working and matching your words in order to build your awareness around them. All change begins with acknowledgement and truth around what is not working. Be proud of yourself for being honest about your own blocks. It’s admirable to admit where you can use some help.
See what comes with your heightened awareness around your ways of being that are not working. Keep doing what IS working for you. This shift in perspective can allow change to begin.
