Emotions are meant to be fluid. When they aren’t, they get stuck. When emotions get stuck within you, they can extremely taint and mess with you and how you live your life. Learning how to deal with your emotions in ways that allow them to move and pass through you instead of lurking around is key to a healthy YOU.
Anytime we deny our feelings by not dealing with them or by dismissing them, they can’t be processed and let go of. I can use the analogy of trash. If you don’t throw your can of trash out from time to time it will start to overflow, stink, look nasty, etc. Your whole house, no matter how fabulously decorated it is, will not look or be appealing because it stinks and looks unkept. Our feelings are the same. We can look amazing and be awesome people, but if we start consistently not dealing with our emotions about our life experiences, we will start to slowly corrode. Meaning we become less pure, less whole, less authentic to ourself, less bright and the list goes on.
Your emotions and how you act go hand in hand. They are 100% connected.
Here is the tricky part. Emotions can be really hard to feel and deal with. That’s why we push them down, pretend they are not there, hide from them, deny them, ignore them. Although that can possibly work for a bit, it’s a pretty horrible long term plan of how to deal with your feelings. There are consequences that pair with not dealing with your feelings and, surprise, they are not good. Everyone is different in what these consequences will be, but generally they range from not so good to really negative. Getting real with yourself about what you need to do to let go of and process your emotions is a big deal.
We are like machines in terms of how we function. There are certain actions and behaviors that we need to be mindful of and do on the daily to stay “tuned in.” We owe it to ourselves to acknowledge and work through our stuff. We will be better for doing so.
Let your emotions move. Let them flow, so they can be felt and then released. As they say, catch and release. This will keep your energy within moving and healthy. It will make room for the new when your consistently processing out the old.
It’s balance. It’s flow. It’s good. Be fluid.
